Exciting Changes are Coming to Disney World in 2024!
Are you a Disney fan eagerly waiting to experience the enchantment of Walt Disney World? Well, we have some exciting news for you! Disney World has announced two major changes that fans have been eagerly anticipating since the pandemic hit. Starting January 9, 2024, park reservation requirements will be lifted for most visitors, and Disney dining plans will make a grand return for resort hotel guests. These updates aim to enhance guest experiences and provide the convenience and peace of mind that Disney fans have been missing.

The recent announcement by Disney World builds upon the series of updates that have already been implemented this year. Offering same-day attraction photo perks with Genie+ is one of the ways Disney World is committed to continuously improving the overall guest experience.
So, what do these changes mean for travelers planning a trip to Disney World? Let’s delve into the details:
Reservations
No more reservations for Disney ticket holders Since the reopening of Disney World during the pandemic, guests have been required to make park-specific reservations for entry before 2 p.m. However, starting January 9, 2024, guests with date-based tickets will no longer need park reservations. This change applies to the standard tickets available on Disney’s website, which are mostly date-based. For other admission types, including non-dated tickets, theme park reservations may still be required to manage attendance and ensure an exceptional experience for all guests.
Annual Passholders
More flexibility for annual passholders and cast members If you’re an annual passholder or a cast member, get ready for increased flexibility! Currently, annual passholders can enter any theme park after 2 p.m. without a reservation. However, in the upcoming year, Disney will introduce select dates when no reservations will be required for passholders or cast members. These “good-to-go days” will be rolled out periodically throughout the year and will be visible on annual passholder calendars. Please note that park-specific block-out dates and capacity limitations will still apply.
Dining Plans Returning
Disney dining plans are making a comeback For guests who book Disney vacation packages with park tickets and accommodations at Disney resort hotels, the long-awaited return of Disney dining plans is finally here! Starting January 9, 2024, you’ll have the opportunity to purchase Disney dining plans again. Two different options will be available: the Disney Quick Service Dining Plan and the Disney Dining Plan. To explore the list of locations accepting these plans, visit Disney’s website at the end of this month. The booking window for most 2024 vacations opens on May 31, 2024.
Genie+ Changes
Exciting changes to Genie+ Disney World is also working on enhancing the Genie+ service to minimize the time guests spend on their phones while in the parks. Although specific details haven’t been released yet, Disney World has acknowledged guest feedback and is actively developing ways for guests to plan their visits with Genie+ service and individual Lightning Lane selections before their park visit. The goal is to reduce planning time within the park, allowing you to focus on enjoying the magical moments with your friends and family. Stay tuned for more information about these changes in the future.
