How to Use New Lightning Lane Multi Pass at Disney

Are you ready to breeze through the lines at Disney World with the Lightning Lane Multi Pass? If you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed by this new system, fear not! I’ve got you covered with all the ins and outs of using the Lightning Lane Multi Pass at Walt Disney World.

What is Lightning Lane Multi Pass?

The Lightning Lane Multi Pass (LLMP) is Disney World’s latest paid option for skipping the standby line for most rides and experiences. It’s part of the new Lightning Lane system that replaced Disney Genie+. With LLMP, you can pre-book up to 3 attractions in a single park per day and select specific times for each. Once you’ve used one of your pre-booked selections, you can book additional Lightning Lane Multi Passes throughout the day, with a maximum of 3 active at any time.

As an added bonus, your Lightning Lane Multi Pass purchase includes unlimited digital downloads of all your ride photos and videos during your visit, as well as access to exclusive Disney PhotoPass lenses in the My Disney Experience app. Keep in mind that Lightning Lane Multi Pass is an optional service, so if it’s not a priority for you, standby lines or Virtual Queue options are still available for all Disney World attractions.

How Much Does Lightning Lane Multi Pass Cost?

The cost of Lightning Lane Multi Pass varies based on the date and theme park. Prices can range from around $20-$40 per person, with Animal Kingdom being the cheapest and Magic Kingdom being the most expensive, similar to how it was with Disney Genie+. You can check the Lightning Lane Multi Pass prices for your trip dates using the My Disney Experience app once you’re within 21 days of your arrival date.

The pricing is dynamic, meaning it fluctuates based on park attendance. One positive change with Lightning Lane Multi Pass is that you can view ride and return time availability before making a purchase. This allows you to make an informed decision about whether to buy LLMP. Just keep in mind that once you purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass, there are no refunds.

Who Can Buy Lightning Lane Multi Pass?

All guests with valid theme park admission and a park pass reservation on the same day are eligible to purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass. The Park Pass Reservation requirements have changed for 2024, so it’s best to check directly with Disney or your Travel Agent if you’re unsure about needing a reservation.

When Can You Buy Lightning Lane Multi Pass?

If you have valid theme park admission, you can purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass beginning at 7:00 AM Eastern Time on the first day of eligibility. It’s recommended to be ready to make your purchases early to secure the best availability of attractions and return times.

For guests staying off-site in a vacation rental home, you can purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass up to 3 days before your park visit starting at 7:00 AM ET, depending on your valid admission type. The eligibility window stays open once it opens, giving you flexibility to book or modify your LLMP reservations at your leisure.

If you’re staying at an official Disney Resort Hotel or select hotels, you can purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass up to 7 days before your check-in date starting at 7:00 AM ET.  Our guests have not had any issues with availability staying off-site, so definitely don’t make accommodation decisions based on ride passes.

What Rides Work With Lightning Lane Multi Pass?

Lightning Lane Multi Pass works with nearly every attraction at Walt Disney World. When purchasing LLMP for a particular park, you’ll be prompted to choose up to 3 LLMP experience arrival windows from within that park. However, not every ride is included in the LLMP system, and some are on a tiered system similar to how FastPass+ worked in the past.

For example, Magic Kingdom has Tier One rides like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Space Mountain, while Tier Two rides include attractions like Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin and Pirates of the Caribbean. After you’ve used one of your initial three Lightning Lane Multi Pass selections, you’ll be able to choose any ride regardless of tier or park if you have Park Hopper capability.

Lightning Lane Multi Pass vs Lightning Lane Single Pass

In addition to Lightning Lane Multi Pass, there’s also the option to purchase a Lightning Lane Single Pass for specific attractions.  The main differences between the two services are that LLMP allows you to pre-book up to 3 attractions per day in a single park, while LLSP provides a single-use pass for one specific attraction. On low crowd days, we find that a single pass works great when our group really cares about one particular ride and we don’t mind stand-by for all the others.

For background, Lightning Lane Single Pass (LLSP) replaced Individual Lightning Lanes (ILL) and is a new way for guests to skip lines at select attractions in Disney World. This a la carte line-skipping option is available for TRON Lightcycle Run and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at Magic Kingdom, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Hollywood Studios, and Avatar Flight of Passage at Animal Kingdom.

The window to purchase Lightning Lane Single Passes opens at the same time as LLMP, and both services work independently. This means that if you want to purchase both LLMP and LLSP on the same day, you can potentially have up to 5 Lightning Lane attractions booked at once—3 LLMP and up to 2 different LLSP.

How does Lightning Lane Multi Pass work with Park Hopper?

If you have Park Hopper tickets, you can use Lightning Lane Multi Pass in multiple parks within the same day. However, when pre-booking your LLMP selections, you can only book for one Disney theme park at a time. After using your first LLMP on the day of your visit, you can make another LLMP reservation in another park.

If you decide to visit a different park than what you initially pre-booked with LLMP, you can modify all three of your LLMP bookings to another park based on availability. This flexibility allows you to maximize your use of LLMP when Park Hopping.
